FAQ

Are Clay Theory earrings suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. When making pieces, we take into consideration our sensitive skin pals! All pieces are made with hypoallergenic posts.
How can I care for my clay earrings?
Polymer clay is a slightly flexible material when cured, and it can be easily scratched by harder materials such as metal. Unlike ceramic or porcelain, polymer clay will not shatter if dropped, and bends before breaking. Please do not bend your earrings or they will snap. Do not wear your earrings in water. Makeup or other dirt can be removed from clay components by slightly going over dirty spots with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol.
What is the usual turn-around time till my order is processed?
The usual turn-around time for order fulfillment is roughly about 10 business days. We like to add personal touches to each order, therefore, it takes me a bit longer. We appreciate your patience.
Does Clay Theory handle custom orders?
It sure does! Please email info@claytheory.com to see if we can fulfill your request!

If the item sells out, will you be making more?

All of our pieces are slowly handmade in small batches. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that we will be bringing back an item of the past. We encourage you to email us and request this service. We also encourage to join our mailing list, you will receive email updates regarding new collections, sample sales, and product launches. Simply go to our website, scroll down, and enter your email address into the subscribe box.

Is your pottery food safe?

Yes they are. All of our items including dishes, mugs, espresso sets, spoons, and bowls are food safe and you can drink your favorite beverages out of them. In fact, it is encouraged!

How do I care for my pottery?

We urge customers to hand wash their ceramics in lukewarm water, which is more gentle than a dishwasher. A dishwasher can permanently damage glazes and cause discoloration. We don’t recommend keeping ceramics outside during cold temperatures or placing them into freezers as they may crack or chip. We also don't recommend putting your item through quick temperature changes (eg. pouring hot liquid into a cold mug) as the bottom can crack and fall out. All mugs, bowls, and plates are microwavable.
